DAYTON — The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company presents its winter concert, ReVisioning 45: New Works Unveiled during February’s Black History Month 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 or 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9. The concert will feature three new and brilliant dance works by some of the world’s top choreographers: Donald Byrd, Ronen Koresh, and Ray Mercer.
This is the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company’s first concert in 2014. The New Year coincides with the celebration of the company’s 45th anniversary. The name of the dance company’s 45th anniversary season is Living the Legacy. The concert title ReVisioning 45: New Works Unveiled refers to the dance company’s new direction and the renewal of its art (creating and performing new dance) during its 45th year.
Donald Byrd’s The Geography of the Cotton Fields will be performed. Ronen Koresh’s Exit No. 7, and Ray Mercer’s Tossed Around.
Artistic Director Debbie Blunden-Diggs said, “I am very excited about these new works from three master choreographers whom I admire so much. It is great having Donald Byrd return to our studio and this is Ronen Koresh’s and Ray Mercer’s first time creating work for the company. In all three works the company shines because these choreographers deeply appreciate our dancers. The new work by these great artists fits the company perfectly.”
The concert will be held at the Victoria Theatre, 138 N. Main St. For tickets to ReVisioning 45: New Works Unveiled please contact Ticket Center Stage at 937-228-3630 or 888-228-3630 or www.ticketcenterstage.com. Concert sponsor is Dayton Power & Light Foundation.
