Making maple syrup

January 22, 2014

XENIA — Greene County Farm Forum will host Carl Conover, long-time volunteer with the Boy Scouts and co-founder of the Tecumseh Council’s maple sugar shack, to discuss the origin and operation during the Jan. 27 meeting.

The sugar shacks goals are to provide an opportunity for the public to experience the process of maple syrup from the tree to the jar and to raise much needed funds to provide support for Camp Hugh Taylor Birch. He will also have maple syrup for sale.

The Jan. 27 meeting is open to the public and will be held at 7 p.m. in the Union United Methodist Church, 393 Washington Road. Meal cost is $10 and for reservations call Paul Ayres at 937-352-6379 or email payres1@woh.rr.com by 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17. The meeting is sponsored by OSU Ext. Greene County and Greene County Farm Forum.
