Combs treasurer of the southwest region

XENIA — Senior Colten Combs from Greene County Career Center’s Electrical Wiring and Motor Controls program has been elected Treasurer of the Southwest Region of Ohio for SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is a career-technical student organizations that provide leadership, competition and networking opportunities for students throughout the nation.

Combs of Beavercreek, will be responsible for financial reports, meeting management and representation of the organization at meetings in the region for the entire 2013-14 school year. He will travel throughout his assigned area making public speaking appearances, meeting with SkillsUSA members to discuss their goals for the year, and meeting with representatives in business and industry to forge stronger partnerships.

Combs is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society and serves as a student ambassador at the career center.

All Greene County Career Center students, including those who attend the main campus and those in various satellite programs throughout the county, are members of a career-technical student organization. These organizations provide not only leadership experiences, but networking opportunities and the chance to compete against other students in similar programs at the local, regional, state and national levels.

Other career-technical student organizations with chapters through Greene County Career Center include Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), National FFA Organization, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and Future Educators Association (FEA).
